Q. Can I buy in bulk?
Beef - In addition to the products listed for sale on the left, customers may also order a whole, half or quarter of beef. We can divide a beef into thirds if we have a group that wants to do this. On their own, some customers have divided their quarter with friends and neighbors. We leave that up to you.
Pork - Customers may order a whole or half hog.

Q. What are the costs?
A. For beef, the cost is $2.95 per pound on the hoof, plus processing. For pork, the cost is $1.95per pound on the hoof, plus processing.
Q. Can you give me an idea of how much meat we're talking about?
A. The following is are typical order examples:
Beef - The live weight is approximately 1300 - 1500 lbs.
The hanging weight is approximately 700 - 900 lbs.
(The hanging weight is the beef live weight minus the hide, head and stomach contents)
The cut weight is approximately 525 - 640 lbs. divided by 4 = 130 - 160 lbs per quarter
(The cut weight is the final amount of meat left after bones are trimmed and fat is removed based on personal preference)
Pork - The live weight is approximately 270 - 320 lbs
The hanging weight is approximately 216 - 250 lbs.
The cut weight is approximately 195 - 220 lbs.
Q. How do I place my bulk order?
A. You can order online from the Bulk Orders category _OR_ call Lew or Marilyn Dodd at 410-556-6728 _OR_ email the farm at email@example.com. Include your name, address, phone number and desired amount of beef (whole, half or quarter) or pork (whole or half). Your processing details will be obtained and a non-refundable $100.00 deposit will be required per quarter of beef or per half of hog.
Q. How do I pay?
A. We accept payments by cash, check, VISA and MasterCard.
Q. If I order a quarter of beef, how much freezer space will I need?
A. Your beef will be frozen and packaged in cardboard boxes when you pick it up. A quarter of beef will weigh approximately 100 - 160 pounds and use approximately 5 cubic feet of freezer space.
Q. Can I choose package size, thickness of cut?
A. Yes, you can have the freedom to decide how you would like your animal processed on a half or more.
Example options include:
How many pounds of hamburger per package?
How many steaks per package?
Desired thickness of cut for steaks?
Do you prefer more hamburger than roasts?
Do you prefer stew meat instead of hamburger?
You may choose the percentage of hamburger vs. roasts vs. stew meat
depending on your personal preference.
[However, we recommend our standard cut which is one pound hamburger per package, one steak per package, roasts are 3 - 4 pounds, stew meat is also in a one pound package. Liver is also packaged in a one pound package for anyone who wishes.] All weights are approximate.
Q. On average, what are the percentages of cuts available per beef animal?
A. A beef animal will usually yield:
18% Steaks (T-bone, Rib Eye, Porterhouse, Sirloin, Flank)
23% Roasts (Sirloin Tip, Chuck, Arm)
14% Round Cuts (Top Round, Bottom Round, Eye Roast)
30% Ground Beef (More if fat, less if lean)
15% Miscellaneous (Short Ribs, Liver, Stew)
These percentages can be manipulated by turning roasts into hamburger or specialized processed meats at buyers request.
Q. When can I expect my beef to be ready?
A. We slaughter several animals per month. The beef is usually ready for pickup two weeks after the slaughter date. We will let you know by phone or email when your order is ready.
